On 16 March 2021, Queensland rider Hunter Lawrence was the overall winner at the AMA 250 Supercross West round in Arlington, Texas.

Lawrence’s win in Round 11 of the 2021 Monster Energy AMA Supercross – an FIM World Championship series event – was his first overall AMA Supercross win in only his sixth start since moving to the United States in 2019.

The Team Honda HRC rider won inside AT&T Stadium in front of a limited capacity, pod-seated crowd of excited race fans due to Covid-19 social distancing measures.

Muc-Off Honda’s Mitchell Harrison grabbed the early lead in the Western Regional 250SX Class Main Event with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Jalek Swoll right on his rear wheel.

Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha’s Justin Cooper, the fastest racer in all of the division’s qualifying this season, sat in sixth but contact with another rider on the opening lap put him back to 19th place.

Just over five minutes into the 15-minute plus one lap race Lawrence made a bold move, passing two riders in one bowl turn to jump from third place and into the lead.  From there he rode like a seasoned veteran, stretching his lead to five seconds near the end of the race.

Hunter Lawrence went on to finish second in the 2021 AMA 250SX West Championship, narrowly behind American Justin Cooper from New York.

It was his best year in the United States.  In the 2021 outdoor AMA Pro Motocross 250MX Championship, he finished third overall with his younger brother Jett crowned the AMA Pro MX Champion. They created history becoming the only brothers to both finish an AMA Pro Motocross Championship in the top three.
