Queenslander Troy Carroll was one of Australia’s top motocross riders in the late 1990s and 2000s.

Born on 30 November 1979, Carroll won 12 junior national titles before turning professional in the senior ranks for the 1996 season, winning the Australian 125cc Supercross Championship in his first attempt at just 16.

He won back-to-back 125cc Supercross titles in 1997 aboard a Honda, claiming his first of three Australian Motocross Championships, later switching to Yamaha.  That year he also competed in the United States and was a member of the Australian Team at the Motocross des Nations in Nismes, Belgium, along-side the late Andrew McFarlane and Cameron Taylor.

Throughout his career, which spanned two decades, Carroll also won five National Supercross titles and three Thumper Nats Championships, returning briefly to the United States in 2003 to compete in the Indianapolis and Atlanta rounds in the AMA 125ESX Championship.

Troy’s final competitive race was on a Kawasaki KX450F in 2009, after badly breaking his shoulder the year before.

Carroll has become synonymous with Australian motocross – firstly as a multiple junior, then as a senior national champion, before going on in 2010 to manage the Kawasaki Racing Team.  

In 2016 for his outstanding career achievements, Troy Carroll was inducted into the Australian Supercross Championship Hall of Fame at round 2 of the National titles in Toowoomba.
