Victorian motocross legend Cameron Taylor has carved a remarkable racing legacy, his career spanning decades of triumph and challenges both nationally and internationally.

Taylor’s passion for motocross ignited at the age of six, and by 1986, he had already claimed his first Victorian Junior Motocross title in the 80cc class. This early taste of victory set the stage for a career defined by relentless dedication and a fierce competitive spirit. 

From 1993 to 2005, he dominated the Australian motocross and supercross scene, racking up multiple national titles.  Even after transitioning to the Veterans category, he continued to reign supreme, securing more National championships between 2010 and 2015.

In 1993, riding a Honda, Taylor clinched the Australian 125cc Motocross Championship, a feat he would replicate 12 years later in 2005. That same year, he joined forces with Robbie Marshall in the powerhouse Serco Yamaha Team, storming to victory in the Australian MX2 Motocross Championship.

His talent wasn’t confined to just motocross—Taylor was a formidable force in supercross as well. In 1994, he conquered both the Australian Masters and National Supercross Championships in the 125cc class. A decade later, in 2004, he roared back to the top, winning the Australian Pro Lites (MX2) Supercross Championship before claiming the Supercross Masters title in 2005.

Taylor’s skills weren’t just recognized at home; they took him to the international stage. In the mid-1990s, he represented Australia in the Pan Pacific Championships, winning it in 1994 before making waves in the United States. After an electrifying victory at the Melbourne round of the 1995 Supercross Masters premier 250cc class, he set his sights on the prestigious AMA Supercross and Motocross circuits in 1996.

His international journey continued in 1997, where he donned the green and gold at the Motocross of Nations in Nismes, Belgium. Competing in the Open class on a Suzuki, he battled alongside Australian teammates Andrew McFarlane and Troy Carroll, finishing 11th in a fiercely contested event where Belgium reigned supreme over Italy and Great Britain.

Taylor’s globetrotting career saw him take on some of the toughest riders in the world. In 1999, he made a one-off appearance in the United States at the Hangtown Motocross Classic, going bar-to-bar with the best in the 250cc class. In 2001-02 he nearly clinched an international crown, finishing as the runner-up in the German Supercross Championship.
